Cache Memory

Cache memory is computer chip memory inside the disk drive’s shell that holds data that is in the process of being written to, or read from the hard disk. The cache memory on the drive is there to speed up data access by storing frequently accessed information in the chipset instead of waiting for the drive to spin all the way round to where the data is and begin reading it.  Larger cache memory on the drive itself is better, but it is also more expensive.
