  • The model separates functions into four layers
    • Application Layer
    • Transport Layer
    • Internet Layer
    • Network Access Layer
  • Each layer is independent of the layer above it and below it and the layers don't need to know how the layer operates.

The TCP/IP Network model is covered on the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CompTIA Network+ and other certification exams.
