Synchronous Digital Hierarchy

Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) is an international standard for communications and a protocol used primarilly in Europe and overseas digital telephone networks to multiplex and cross-connect other communications links. It is designed to be compatible with most other telephony protocols and allows the transfer of significantly higer rates of data.
